Who are we?

Institute for Human Rights and Media (IPCIM), in English: Institute for Human Rights & Media (IHRM) It operates in a space where information ceases to be neutral and becomes a tool of pressure, symbolic violence, exclusion, or simply the commodification of human dignity.

Our mission is to defend human rights in the media and the digital environment — with a particular emphasis on the right to information, freedom of expression, privacy, and the protection of personal rights.

What do we believe?

We are not interested in tribal wars or moral spectacles. We care about standards: whether information is reliable, whether people are treated as subjects, and whether media and platforms take responsibility for the consequences of their actions.

In short: freedom of speech without responsibility often becomes merely the freedom of the stronger.

Our mission

  1. To protect human rights in public communication — the right to information, freedom of expression, privacy, and digital security.
  2. To strengthen the independence, pluralism, and reliability of the media — also through education and editorial standards.
  3. To counter disinformation, hate speech, and violence online — through monitoring, analysis, reports, and fact-checking.
  4. To support individuals harmed by publications and digital activities — through legal assistance, interventions, mediation, and representation.
  5. Uczestniczyć w debacie publicznej i legislacyjnej – ekspertyzy, konsultacje, prace eksperckie, a także działania typu amicus curiae.

What do we do in practice?

The Institute pursues its objectives, among others, through publishing and media activities (reports, podcasts, educational programs), training sessions and debates, monitoring of media and the internet, fact-checking, legal assistance and mediation, preparation of opinions and expert analyses, as well as cooperation with national and international institutions.

Why were we founded?

Because in recent years, “information” has increasingly functioned like a weapon with a low barrier to entry: all it takes is a publication, reach, and a lack of safeguards. And the consequences — loss of reputation, privacy, security, employment, and health — are usually borne not by those who shout the loudest.

IHRM was established to correct this asymmetry using the tools of law, analysis, and education — not emotion.

Our credo

We do not promise a world without conflict. We promise something more useful: procedures, standards, and real protection of individuals in the world of media and platforms.
